Lloyds Auctioneers and Valuers, Australia are inviting bids for a collection of 13 iconic vehicles from the Mad Max film franchise. Prospective buyers are being invited by the auctioneers to “Express your madness now! TEXT or CALL 0498 MAD MAX (+61 498 623 629)” – with tender bids being accepted until 26th September 2021.
If a more unique or iconic collection of vehicles has ever been offered for auction (or straight sale), please let us know about it as we can't recall anything quite like this. Even if you're not a fan of the films, there's a very good chance you'd recognize the vehicles are they are just so different to anything else out there.
Yes, we know there have been some great collections of classic cars, barn finds, sports cars, super cars etc offered for sale in the past but nothing where each of the vehicles offered for sale is completely and utterly unique.
Since launching their marketing campaign for this collection (which, by no surprise, has generated huge interest) LLoyds have been dealing with a significant amount of interest. This led us to wonder what the eventual winning bidder will do with the vehicles. There are a few obvious options which spring to mind;
1. the cars will become part of a larger private car collection
2. the cars will be added to a motor museum or museum of movie memorabilia (there does appear to be a Mad Max themed 'museum' in Australia)
3. the cars will be purchased by someone (or a group of people) connected to a festival such as the post apocalyptic Wasteland Weekend or Burning Man so that the cars will be used on an ongoing basis in a relevant way. We'd love to see them used for this purpose!
If you have any other ideas about where they should live after the auction, let us know and if you happen to find out who bought them drop us a line so we can try and track them down.
